FAQs

Step 1: Cut the hair system base into the size that fits the client’s scalp where the hair system is to be applied. Cut off the skin along the front hairline. Watch out; ensure you do not cut the hair around the edge. Step 2: Shave the area where the PU base hair unit will be applied. Clean the area with alcohol, ensuring it is oil-free. Step 3: Mark out the edge of the hair system with a makeup pencil. Locate the front hairline by placing four fingers above the client’s eyebrows. Step 4: Brush a layer of glue on the shaved scalp. Stop by the edge. Then wipe off the mark. Step 5: Wait until the glue is almost dry and position the thin skin toupee to the scalp, starting from the front hairline to the back. Squeeze out bubbles. When the hair system is well placed, firmly press it to ensure it is tightly secured on the head.

Both tape and glue are applicable for thin-skin toupees. However, glue does a better job attaching thin skin toupees, as it is more adhesive and can get every inch of the base to stick to the head, granting a super-tight hold, while with tape, there will still be areas of the base that won’t stick to the head. Glue makes invisible bonding; it leaves no mark on an ultra-thin skin base, and tape can still leave marks through ultra-thin skin.

It depends. Thin skin toupee bases have different thicknesses. There are 0.03 mm ultra thin hair systems, 0.06–0.08 mm thin skin hair systems, and 0.1 mm thick skin base hair systems. Refer to the form below as a guideline.

A thin skin hair system is a hair system with a polyurethane base. It is a semi-permanent hairpiece used to cover baldness. The poly base has different thicknesses ranging from 0.02 mm, which is ultra-thin, to 0.08 mm and 0.12 mm for various purposes. The base is translucent, looking just like our epidermis.

Natural: When applied, it melts into the wearer’s scalp like the epidermis (the thin top layer of our skin), presenting a natural look. User-friendly: Men’s thin skin hair pieces are easy to clean or maintain, ideal for new hairpiece wearers. Flexible: There are multiple ways to install a PU hair system. You can attach a skin base hair system using either tape or glue. Affordable: Poly skin hair systems are cost-effective and the best bargain for most new hair system wearers.

There are a few types of poly hair systems: Clear skin, poly with gauze, and poly coating/NPU. [wptb id=275481] ● The most commonly used poly hair systems are transparent thin skin toupees. They have the whole base made of translucent polymer only. 0.02 mm to 0.1 mm are classified as thin skin; 0.12 mm to 0.14 mm are medium skin; and 0.16 mm to 0.18 mm are thick skin. 0.02 mm to 0.03 mm base ones is called for ultra thin skin hair systems. They usually last 3–4 weeks and are disposable hairpieces. 0.05 mm to 0.08 mm is standard for thin skin hair systems. They are more durable and can be reattached a few times. Sports lovers can wear them to exercise; the hairpiece remains attached. Poly hair systems with a base of 0.1 mm and above are used for injectable hair. So the hair is knotless, looks like real hair growing out of a natural scalp, and can be combed in any direction. ● A poly base with gauze has the core part made of poly and the gauze as a perimeter. PU with gauze can be made as thin as 0.08 mm. It can be used as a cover for the entire base or serve as the perimeter of the base, making it look more natural than PU coating. ● Polycoat/NPU is French lace or fine mono materials with a PU perimeter to strengthen the base.

Poly thin skin hair systems are breathable but less so than lace or monofilament hair systems, which have thousands and thousands of holes in their bases. However, it doesn’t mean that thin skin toupees are like plastic sheets that do not have holes. They also have tiny holes so that heat and air can escape from the base material. Some hybrid hair systems have a poly base with lace windows on the top of the head, where heat can easily escape.

Both lace and thin skin men’s hair piece have their benefits. Pros of thin skin hair systems: ● Thin skin hair systems are easily attached with either glue or tape and are easy to maintain. It’s easier to wash glue or tape residue off the skin base. ● Most thin skin toupees have hair v-looped or injected into the base. So the hair is knotless, looking just like natural hair. Pros of lace hair systems: ● Lace hair systems are the most breathable hairpieces. They are super comfortable to wear even in tropical weather. No itches or any uncomfortable feelings. ● Lace hair systems have the most realistic-looking base. When attached, the base appears colorless and melts into the scalp as one. ● Lace hair systems are weightless. The wearer can’t even feel it. As a wearer, go for lace if you want a perfectly realistic-looking men’s wig with maximum comfort, especially if you enjoy sports in the hot summer and are ready to sweat heaps. If you are new to hair systems and want a combination of price and value, and one that’s easy to maintain, thin skin toupees are your best bargain.
